Mr Hariom Sur

Mr Hariom Sur is a highly experienced consultant urologist, with a longstanding career in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of urological conditions. He is part of the Birmingham Prostate Specialists based at The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare. Mr Sur’s areas of specialisation include the management of prostate cancer and non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, as well as benign conditions such as urinary stone disease.

He has been a consultant at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust since 2015, where he provides specialist care within one of the UK’s largest and busiest NHS trusts. Alongside his NHS work, Mr Sur also sees private patients at leading independent hospitals in Birmingham, including The Priory Hospital in Edgbaston and The Harborne Hospital.

Mr Sur completed his primary medical qualification (MBBS) at the University of Delhi in 2000 before moving to the UK to pursue further surgical training. He was awarded membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004 and went on to achieve fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology (FRCS Urol) in 2015. His training and career reflect a strong commitment to high clinical standards and continuous professional development within the field of urology.

In his clinical practice, Mr Sur manages a broad spectrum of general and specialist urological conditions, offering evidence-based and patient-focused care. He is known for his clear communication style and for involving patients fully in decisions about their treatment, ensuring they feel informed and supported throughout their care pathway. His work spans both elective and complex urological care, delivered within multidisciplinary teams.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Sur is actively involved in medical education. He has held the role of clinical tutor at the University of Birmingham since 2016, contributing to the teaching and supervision of medical students and junior doctors. Through this role, he supports the development of future clinicians and remains closely engaged with academic medicine and training.

Mr Sur is a member of several professional organisations, including the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) and the European Association of Urology (EAU). These memberships reflect his ongoing engagement with national and international best practice, guidelines and advances within urology.

Fluent in both English and Hindi, Mr Sur is able to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population. He is fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and is recognised for his professional, compassionate approach and commitment to delivering high-quality urological care tailored to each individual patient.
