Dr Hema Palanyiaya

Dr Hema Palanyiaya is a Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician in London with a well established background in child development and complex needs. Her areas of expertise are Community Child Health and Paediatric Neurodisability, which includes management of conditions such as autism, ADHD, learning disability, cerebral palsy as well as other physical disabilities. She is also skilled in muscle tone management, including ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin injections for spasticity, along with social paediatrics and child protection. 

Dr Palanyiaya consults privately at Chase Lodge Hospital. With over 16 years of experience, she also leads Paediatric Neurodisability, Muscle Tone Management, and Paediatric Transitional Care to Adult Services at Evelina London Community Services. Prior to this, Dr Palanyiaya worked in other renowned institutions such as Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.

Dr Palanyiaya qualified from the University of Southampton in 2009. Her subspecialty training in community child health and neurodisability took place in London and the East of England, following specialty training in Kent, Surrey, and Sussex, and foundation training in Dorset. Notably, Dr Palanyiaya is trained in the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R), Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), Paediatric Epilepsy Training (PET 1, 2, and 3), and sleep management.

In addition, Dr Palanyiaya is closely involved in clinical research and regularly presents her work at national and international conferences. In clinical practice, Dr Palanyiaya is approachable and empathetic, dedicated to personalising care for each child. Guided by compassion, she puts each child and their family at the heart of her care, providing holistic, family-centred support that nurtures both physical and emotional well-being.
