
Mr Jonathan van Dellen
Professional statement
Mr Jonathan van Dellen is a consultant colorectal and general surgeon practising at HCA at the Shard. He specialises in the management of rectal prolapse and other pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diverticular disease, piles, and pilonidal sinus. He is a certified endoscopist and has expertise in performing colonoscopies.
Mr van Dellen qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in 2006, for which he was awarded an MBBS from the University of London. He undertook surgical training in London and the South West Thames region, which was followed by an advanced fellowship to further his subspecialist interests. He completed a research doctorate with King’s College London in 2017, for which he looked into Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols and patient outcomes in colorectal surgery.
Mr van Dellen, in addition to his clinical responsibilities, is a tutor of the Royal College and an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor, and participates in the training of junior doctors and allied health professionals.
