Dr Kush Rupasinghe is a highly regarded consultant paediatric gastroenterologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with expertise in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents. He consults privately at King’s Private and also leads the Little Tummies Clinic at the Guthrie Clinic in Denmark Hill, London.
His clinical practice covers a broad spectrum of paediatric gastrointestinal disorders, including abdominal pain, reflux, constipation, diarrhoea, infant feeding difficulties, food allergies, coeliac disease, bloody stools, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), cow’s milk protein allergy, and disorders of gut–brain interaction. Dr Rupasinghe is also highly experienced trainer in paediatric endoscopy and specialised gastrointestinal diagnostic procedures such as anorectal manometry for children with complex constipation.
Dr Rupasinghe graduated from world renown UCL Medical School with an MBBS degree and an intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences and Psychology. He later completed an MSc in Advanced Paediatrics with distinction at the UCL Institute of Child Health. He is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and belongs to both ESPGHAN and BSPGHAN. In addition, he serves nationally on the BSPGHAN Eosinophilic Oesophagitis Working Group Committee.
Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Dr Rupasinghe is actively involved in education and research. He is the undergraduate lead for Paediatric Gastroenterology teaching at King’s College London (KCL) and previously held the role of honorary clinical lecturer at Imperial College London. He is the lead for year 2 KCL medical students for Human Development. He also trains clinicians in paediatric endoscopy and contributes to one of the UK’s few JAG-accredited paediatric gastroscopy training courses.
Dr Rupasinghe is highly active in research and has worked on principle investigator for novel paediatric inflammatory bowel drugs, in both phase 2 and phase 3 trials. Dr Rupasinghe additionally has a strong interest in healthcare innovation and digital medicine. He serves as the Child Health lead for the EPIC healthcare system at King’s College Hospital and is particularly interested in the use of artificial intelligence in clinical practice for children.
