Dr Manas Datta

Dr Manas Datta is a respected consultant paediatrician specialising in general paediatrics, paediatric gastroenterology and paediatric allergy, in Chelmsford, Essex. Dr Datta specialises in neonatology, child nutrition, and respiratory diseases, alongside child allergies, lactose intolerance, food allergies, prick testing and infant feeding. He privately practises at Springfield Hospital while his NHS base is Broomfield Hospital, part of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, where he is clinical lead for paediatric gastroenterology.

Dr Datta's clinical experience also extends to various respected roles at his NHS trust. He was the clinical director for Children's Services for six years, and previously lead the child death review. His excellence is reflected in the multiple NHS clinical excellence awards received from his trust.

He is highly qualified with an MBBS from Calcutta University in India, an MD (Doctor of Medicine) and DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in Paediatrics. He is a Member of the Royal of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, and completed his higher specialist training in paediatrics from the East of England Deanery in Cambridge.

Dr Datta is also involved in academic work. He's a senior examiner for the Membership Examination of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and participates in various clinical examinations both nationally and internationally. He previously served as a Royal College tutor and was an undergraduate examiner at Queen Mary University. He now sits on many interview and educational progress review panels as a representative of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH).

Dr Datta is a member of the editorial board for Paediatric Care Online (PCO), and has been invited to present at national and international conferences. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, and one of his publications was released to the press worldwide by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, London (RCPCH) due to its national and international importance.
