Mr Michael Goldring

Mr Michael Goldring is a consultant upper limb trauma and orthopaedic surgeon in central London. He specialises in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions, with expertise in rotator cuff injury, shoulder dislocation, shoulder instability, alongside fractured shoulder, shoulder arthroscopy, AC joint surgery, and shoulder replacement. He privately practises at OS Clinic, while his NHS base is University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust.

Mr Goldring is dual fellowship-trained and has developed particular expertise in complex shoulder and elbow surgery, including arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures and primary and revision joint replacement. His specialist training took place on the prestigious Percivall Pott rotation in London, followed by two subspecialty fellowships that further refined his advanced surgical skills. He is highly qualified, with an MSc (Dist) in Trauma Science from Queen Mary University of London, a FRCS (Tr&Orth) from the Royal College of Surgeons, and an honours degree in medicine (MBChB) from the University of Manchester.

In 2024, he was appointed consultant upper limb trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at his NHS base, one of the UK’s busiest trusts. There, he manages a wide range of trauma and elective cases in adult patients of all ages, ensuring comprehensive and high-quality care.

Mr Goldring is passionate about medical education and contributes significantly to training the next generation of surgeons. He is an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor with the Royal College of Surgeons, has been a faculty member for the British Elbow and Shoulder Society’s Percivall Pott course at University College London and ORUK, and organised the Leicester Shoulder & Elbow Cadaveric Course and Symposium. His teaching roles reflect his dedication to advancing standards in orthopaedic education and surgical technique.

Mr Goldring remains actively involved in academic work, reviewing articles for leading orthopaedic journals and ensuring his practice reflects the latest clinical research and innovations.

Outside of medicine, Mr Goldring previously competed in football and tennis at both national and international levels. His experience as an athlete provides him with valuable insight into sports-related injuries and the physical demands of high-level competition.

Mr Goldring, who is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), the British Elbow & Shoulder Society (BESS) and the Royal College of Surgeons, is committed to personalised, patient-centred care. He believes in working collaboratively with each patient, explaining all available treatment options, and empowering them to make informed decisions about their recovery and long-term joint health.
