Dr Michal Ajzensztejn

Dr Michal Ajzensztejn is a leading consultant in paediatric diabetes and endocrinology in SE1 South Bank London, who specialises in puberty, growth and short stature, alongside thyroid problems, adrenal gland disorders, pituitary problems, endocrine syndromes, endogynaec problems such as primary ovarian insufficiency and diabetes. She privately practises at at Evelina London Children's Hospital, part of Guy's and St Thomas' Specialist Care, and her NHS base is Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. 

Dr Ajzensztejn has significant medical leadership experience. She was Evelina's London Children's Hospital paediatric endocrinology lead from 2015 to 2020, and the paediatric diabetes department lead for seven years (2013 to 2020). Previous to joining Evelina, she was a consultant in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes at The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

She is highly qualified, and was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and a first-class honours BSc in Psychology (Intercalated) from the University of Southampton's medical school. Dr Ajzensztejn then went on to receive the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) Clinical Reward Award in 2011, and her specialist training in endocrinology and diabetes took place at world-renowned centres including Great Ormond Street Hospital, University College Hospital London and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Dr Ajzensztejn's research has been published in various peer-reviewed journals. She has also received several prizes and awards for her work. She was a clinical fellow at the Schneider Children's Medical Centre where she worked on the artificial pancreas project closing the loop between insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. She won the Alex Russell Paediatric Endocrinology Prize from the Royal Society of Medicine in 2013, and was awarded a prize by the Arthritis Research Campaign.

Dr Ajzensztejn is a recognised name in clinical leadership; she's a committee member of the British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (BSPED)' Specialist Interest Group on Growth and the co-founder of South East Coast Research Group for Diabetes. She's also a member of BSPED and the Association of Children's Diabetes Clinicians (ACDC).
