Mr Nigel Mendoza

Mr Nigel Mendoza is a senior consultant neurosurgeon at Imperial NHS Healthcare Trust, based at Charing Cross Hospital, and Co-Director of the Stereotactic Gamma Knife Unit at Cromwell Hospital. After completing basic surgical training, he undertook a recognised neurosurgery training program, advancing through both registrar and senior registrar positions. He was awarded the Fellowship in Surgical Neurology by the Intercollegiate Specialty Assessment Board on behalf of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons and the Certificate of Accreditation. He was appointed Consultant Neurosurgeon at Charing Cross Hospital in 1995, bringing over 25 years of experience in the field.

Mr Mendoza has developed a specialised clinical practice with a focus on both cranial and spinal neurosurgery. His expertise includes managing degenerative spinal conditions such as back pain and intervertebral disc protrusions in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, along with more complex spinal surgeries for intradural spinal tumors. His subspecialist interest lies in skull base surgery, where he treats conditions like trigeminal neuralgia, pituitary tumors, acoustic neuromas, and meningiomas. He works with an interdisciplinary team utilising advanced techniques such as endoscopic approaches, intraoperative neuronavigation, and Stereotactic Gamma Knife radiosurgery.
