She graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India and obtained her MD degree in research from Dundee University which focused on molecular markers in breast cancer. Professor Roy established a high-quality oncoplastic unit in Oxford for the treatment of breast cancer, which is actively engaged in clinical trials and research. She provides specialist surgical techniques to breast cancer patients such as partial and total breast reconstruction to improve oncological and aesthetic results. Additionally, she can offer implant reconstruction using ADM, total breast reconstruction with latissimus dorsi flap and nipple-areola reconstruction and symmetrization procedures for women who develop asymmetry following their cancer treatment.

Professor Roy is a founder trustee of Oxford Breast Buddy Group, a breast cancer support group that aims to support women with a new diagnosis of breast cancer. She works alongside a psychologist to encourage counselling and support to her patients as and when needed along the treatment pathway.

She is an examiner for FRCS Surgery examination with Intercollegiate Specialty Board and Regional Surgical QA advisor for National Breast Screening Programme in UK. She is also the principal investigator for national and international trials in breast surgery in Oxford and a Surgery Specialty lead for NIHR Thames Valley and South Midlands CRN network to encourage participation and facilitate engagement in surgical trials.
