Dr Pritash Patel is a highly experienced consultant gastroenterologist based at Ashtead Hospital in Surrey, St Anthony’s Hospital in Cheam and Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He specialises in general gastroenterology, hepatology, and emergency and general internal medicine, with particular expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures.
Dr Patel regularly performs a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic interventions, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy, stent insertion, enteroscopy, capsule endoscopy, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), and liver biopsies. He is also fully proficient in PEG feeding and BRAVO pH monitoring, and serves as a regional endoscopy trainer.
Dr Patel treats all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), functional gut disorders, gastrointestinal cancers, liver disease, viral hepatitis, pancreatobiliary conditions, and nutrition-related issues such as iron deficiency anaemia and weight loss. He has a special interest in complex IBD management and is experienced in both enteral and parenteral nutrition.
Dr Patel is a substantive consultant and department lead at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and a consultant gastroenterologist at Royal Marsden Hospital. He also holds several leadership roles, including co-chair of the Royal Marsden Partners Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Pathway Group and chair of the Surrey IBD Regional Group. He is a member of the London Endoscopy Training Academy Faculty.
His research at King’s College London and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust focused on oral Crohn’s disease, immunobiology, and the role of allergy in IBD. Dr Patel has presented his work at national and international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. In recognition of his outstanding patient care, he was awarded the Certificate of Excellence by iWantGreatCare in 2023.
