Professional statement
Mr Rajiv Varma is a highly respected consultant gynaecologist who has been practicing since 1990. His areas of expertise include complex benign pelvic surgery, urogynaecology, pelvic floor surgery, colposcopy (examination of the cervix and vagina), chronic pelvic pain, benign gynaecology, fibroids, endometriosis, and laparoscopic surgery.
Mr Varma possesses a wide range of skills to address common gynaecological issues as well as conduct routine check-ups. He performs advanced procedures such as anterior and posterior repairs and infracoccygeal sacropexy on an outpatient basis. While hysterectomy was once the standard treatment for uterine prolapse and menorrhagia, Mr Varma is increasingly able to preserve the uterus.
In addition to offering the latest treatments for menorrhagia and dysmenorrhoea, he also provides colposcopy services. Initially trained as a gynaecological oncologist, Mr Varma has developed a specialised interest and extensive experience in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. He is a member of various associations, including the British Gynaecological Cancer Society, and is currently an honorary senior lecturer at University College Hospital London.
