Mr Rhidian Thomas

Mr Rhidian Thomas is a senior consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon with a long-established career in both NHS and private practice in London. He trained at leading London teaching hospitals, including St Bartholomew’s and Charing Cross, and undertook further specialist education through international fellowship training in the United States.

Alongside his clinical work, he has maintained a strong academic profile, holding an honorary senior lecturer position and playing an active role in educating and mentoring future orthopaedic surgeons and sports medicine specialists.

His clinical practice focuses on lower limb orthopaedics, with particular expertise in conditions affecting the knee, ankle, foot and shin. Mr Rhidian Thomas is widely recognised for his work in sports-related injuries, especially knee ligament reconstruction, arthroscopic surgery, and the treatment of tendon injuries such as Achilles and patellar tendon problems. He also manages chronic overuse conditions, arthritis, and complex trauma cases, using both surgical and non-surgical approaches tailored to the individual needs of active adults and athletes.

In addition to his hospital practice, Mr Rhidian Thomas has played a prominent role in elite and professional sport. He has provided long-standing orthopaedic support to national sporting organisations and has been closely involved in the medical care of high-performance athletes, including work at major international sporting events. His leadership within professional bodies and his contribution to developing sports and exercise medicine training in the UK reflect his influence on the wider field of orthopaedics and sports trauma.
