Professional statement
Mr Richard Stead is a consultant ophthalmologist at Newmedica Nottingham and Newmedica Keyworth. He specialises in a range of ophthalmic conditions, particularly cataracts and glaucoma.
Mr Stead qualified in 2005 from the University of Leicester with a first-class distinction, and undertook ophthalmological training in Leicester, where he won the local Keeler prize. He finished in the top three of the national Duke Elder prize, and then partook in an elective at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. His specialist training was completed at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, after which he was made a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Mr Stead has been a consultant ophthalmologist since 2015, and is the lead for the glaucoma service at the Queen’s Medical Centre.
