Mr Rishi Shukla

Mr Rishi Shukla is a distinguished consultant ENT surgeon specialising in ENT (ear, nose, and throat), head and neck, and thyroid surgery. He studied medicine at King’s College London, where he also earned a bachelor of science degree in medical biochemistry. His specialist surgical training in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery took place on the Oxford rotation, including placements at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals. His main areas of expertise include neck lumps, thyroid problems, salivary gland problems, voice problems, swallowing problems and general ENT including general paediatrics.

Mr Shukla completed an advanced fellowship in head and neck surgery at the prestigious Charing Cross Hospital. He remains committed to professional development through ongoing visits to leading international centres of excellence in head and neck surgery.

Mr Shukla has been at the forefront of developing drainless neck surgery in the UK, advancing techniques that support safer day case procedures. He believes optimal patient outcomes are achieved through careful clinical selection, thorough planning, and the considered input of a multidisciplinary team to guide complex decision-making.

Mr Shukla has played a central role in expanding head and neck services across Buckinghamshire and leads the Joint Complex Swallow Service at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Actively engaged in medical education, Mr Shukla teaches doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals. He has published research in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented at national and international conferences focused on thyroid and head and neck surgery.

Mr Shukla is among a select group of UK surgeons performing day case drainless neck and thyroid surgery. He continues to refine and expand this service within his NHS practice, underpinned by his belief that innovation and surgical expertise are essential for advancing patient care.
