Dr Rohan Jagathesan

Dr Rohan Jagathesan is a highly accomplished and experienced consultant cardiologist who qualified from the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in 1993. He currently practises at the Cleveland Clinic London Hospital.

He was appointed consultant cardiologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital and Barts and the London NHS Trust in 2005. In 2007, he became one of the first Consultants at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC), playing a key role in expanding regional cardiac services for patients across Essex.

He has since held several senior leadership roles, including lead cardiologist for the Essex Cardiac and Stroke Network (2011), lead cardiologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital (2013), lead interventional cardiologist at the Essex CTC (2015), and clinical director of the Essex CTC (2019). In 2021, he was appointed divisional medical director at Mid & South Essex NHS Trust, with responsibility for the Essex CTC and cardiology services at Basildon, Southend and Broomfield Hospitals.

With more than two decades of experience as a consultant, Dr Jagathesan provides comprehensive care across the full spectrum of adult general cardiology. He has a particular interest in the prevention and management of coronary artery disease and is highly skilled in complex coronary angioplasty and stenting, achieving consistently excellent results. In 2018, he established the TAVI service at the Essex CTC and now leads a dedicated team delivering a high-volume, high-quality programme for the region.

He also specialises in aviation cardiology, with extensive expertise in assessing cardiovascular fitness to fly and advising on regulatory requirements for the UK CAA, EASA and FAA. His practice is founded on excellence, empathy and integrity.
