Mr Samiul Muquit

Mr Samiul Muquit is a consultant neurosurgeon at Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital. His specialist clinical interests include skull base surgery, pituitary surgery, neuro-endoscopy, trigeminal neuralgia, normal pressure hydrocephalus, and spinal surgery. His clinical practice also encompasses neuro-oncology and general neurosurgery, including trauma cases.

He leads the pituitary and skull base surgery services and is a core member of several multidisciplinary teams, including those for pituitary conditions, skull base disorders, facial pain, normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), and neuro-oncology. Mr Muquit graduated from St Bartholomew’s School of Medicine, University of London, in 2002. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Neurosciences from the University of London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education.

After completing his junior surgical training in London, he undertook higher neurosurgical training at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. Following his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery in 2013, he gained subspecialist training in complex spine surgery at the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery in Nottingham, and subsequently in skull base and pituitary surgery at the Walton Centre in Liverpool.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Muquit is an honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Plymouth. He holds teaching roles there and serves as an examiner and member of the Clinical Assessment Panel. He is also an examiner for the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies’ Fellowship of the European Board Examination in Neurosurgery (FEBNS). Mr Muquit has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and neurosurgery textbooks and has presented at national and international conferences. He is a member of the Society of British Neurological Surgeons and the European Association of Neurological Societies.
