Mr Sanjay Verma

Mr Sanjay Verma is a highly regarded consultant adult and children’s ENT, head and neck surgeon in Leeds. He specialises in coblation tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) including balloon sinuplasty and balloon Eustachian tube dilation, and septoplasty, alongside snoring surgery, hearing loss and chronic ear disease, glue ear and grommets, tinnitus and cosmetic ear reshaping (pinnaplasty). He privately practises at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital and the Thorpe Park Clinic - The Living Care Group, while his NHS base is Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Mr Verma has pioneered several advanced surgical techniques in the Yorkshire region. He was the first surgeon to perform balloon sinuplasty at Nuffield Health Leeds and has led the development of balloon tuboplasty for Eustachian tube dysfunction. In his ear practice, he introduced laser ear surgery - including stapedectomy, mastoid surgery, and implantable hearing technologies - to Leeds. His rhinological work focuses on septoplasty, nasal polyps, and surgery to relieve snoring and nasal obstruction, ensuring patients benefit from the latest minimally invasive developments.

Mr Verma graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1999 and holds both an MA and a PhD from the same institution. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has achieved the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (FRCS ORL-HNS). His academic and leadership credentials are extensive, having served as the Royal College of Surgeons Tutor for Leeds, where he was responsible for the quality of surgical training across the Trust. He continues to contribute to medical education as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds.

In his NHS practice at Leeds General Infirmary, Mr Verma serves as the clinical lead for the Acoustic Neuroma Clinic and oversees the Implantable Hearing Device Multidisciplinary Clinic. His expertise in paediatric ENT is equally prominent; he has innovated the use of the coblation technique for tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, which often results in less post-operative discomfort for children. He also provides specialised care for tongue-tie, grommet insertion for glue ear, and pinnaplasty to correct prominent ears.

Mr Verma’s clinical philosophy is rooted in providing bespoke, thorough, and compassionate care tailored to the demands of modern life. He holds various national leadership roles, including positions on the ENT UK Global Health Committee and the British Society of Otology Committee.
