Miss Shahrnaz Izadi is a highly specialised consultant ophthalmologist based in Surrey. She holds expertise in medical retina, cataracts, uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and dry eyes. She has a particular interest in innovations and treatment modalities for medical retina disorders.
Miss Izadi undertook joint academic and clinical training in ophthalmology at St Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool, The Oxford Eye Unit and Moorfield’s Eye Hospital London. She also underwent a degree in physiology, in which she studied the neurobiology of vision and engaged in research at the Institute of Ophthalmology in London.
In addition to her consultancy positions, she has experience working within the ophthalmic pharmaceutical industry and has a strong interest in clinical research and trials. Due to this, she has run cutting-edge clinical trials in her area of medical retina, publishing widely in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presenting at both national and international conferences.
She is also a principal investigator in clinical trials, clinical lead for diabetic maculopathy and the retinal lead at Epsom and St Helier University Hospital NHS Trust.
