Dr Shaikh Ul Haq is a highly experienced consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist based in Newcastle upon Tyne, practising at Nuffield Health Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital. He specialises in the assessment and management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), including adult ADHD, as well as depression, anxiety disorders and emotional and behavioural difficulties in children and adolescents. He graduated from the University of Karachi in 1987 and went on to undertake specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the renowned Institute of Psychiatry London, Maudsley Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, before completing further training at the Northern Deanery in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Dr Haq has served as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist with Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust since 2006 and is the clinical lead for the ADHD specialist service for the Newcastle area. He is actively involved in the teaching and training of medical students and junior doctors, and is a member of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health as well as an affiliate member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
