Mr Simon Fisher

Mr Simon Fisher commenced his medical education at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, earning degrees in medicine and pharmacology in 1999. He later pursued his clinical training at University College London, where he further developed his knowledge and experience in medicine.

Following the completion of his PhD at the University of London, Mr Fisher began his surgical career, initially training in Cambridge for two years. He then progressed to higher surgical training through the South West rotation, which spanned seven years and included a specialist placement at the Birmingham Liver Unit. There, he gained significant expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, as well as liver transplantation. After being awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and gaining entry to the specialist register, he undertook a further advanced fellowship at the Liver Unit in Aintree, Liverpool, under the guidance of Professor Graeme Poston.

Mr Fisher currently holds the position of consultant surgeon in upper gastrointestinal and general surgery at Hereford County Hospital. He also serves as clinical director of surgery and is the upper GI cancer lead. Additionally, he is a JAG-accredited endoscopist with a focus on therapeutic procedures. At Nuffield Health Wolverhampton Hospital, he provides care for a range of upper GI, hepatobiliary, and general surgery conditions, with particular expertise in gallbladder and gallstone disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), and various types of hernia repair. He is highly skilled in both laparoscopic (minimally invasive) and traditional open surgical techniques.
