Dr Sobia Rafi is a highly skilled and experienced consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist with expertise in assessing and treating a wide range of psychiatric and behavioural conditions, including common, rare, and complex presentations.
She has extensive experience across both inpatient and outpatient mental health services. Her clinical interests include the psychopharmacological management of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, ASD, and Tourette’s syndrome, as well as eating disorders, self-harm, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders.
A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Dr Rafi graduated with honours (MBBS) and was awarded the Alexander Mezey Award by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She brings broad and diverse clinical experience within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr Rafi is also deeply committed to medical education. She has served as an honorary clinical tutor and lecturer on the MRCPsych course, and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from Cardiff University. In addition, she is an examiner for Birmingham University Medical School and has organised MRCPsych training for junior doctors in psychiatry, as well as delivering training to school teachers, children’s social workers, and other allied health professionals on matters relating to child and adolescent mental health.
She is dedicated to providing patient-centred, evidence-based care, with a strong interest in quality improvement. Dr Rafi has contributed to several national and international psychiatry conferences through publications and presentations on topics including ADHD, autism, and eating disorders.
Dr Rafi firmly believes that working with children, young people, and their families offers a vital opportunity to create meaningful and lasting change. She values early intervention during this critical stage of development, recognising its potential to make a lifelong difference.
