Dr Vipin Gupta

Dr Vipin Gupta is a highly esteemed consultant gastroenterologist who currently practises at Spire Bristol Hospital. He has been a consultant gastroenterologist and endoscopist since 2020, following the completion of specialist fellowships in inflammatory bowel disease (including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), intestinal failure and clinical nutrition, and advanced endoscopy at Oxford University Hospitals.

Dr Gupta has extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of functional gastrointestinal disorders, including complex and difficult-to-treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), bloating, constipation and diarrhoea. Within his NHS practice, he leads a complex enteral nutrition multidisciplinary team (MDT) and an intestinal rehabilitation clinic, providing specialist care for patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions, significant gastrointestinal symptoms and associated nutritional challenges.

He is an experienced and highly skilled endoscopist, regularly performing gastroscopy (OGD), colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy. Dr Gupta has particular expertise in complex and challenging endoscopic procedures, including cases where previous attempts have been unsuccessful or technically difficult. His broader clinical interests include gastroenterology, gastrointestinal disorders and pathology, gastrointestinal motility disorders, and clinical nutrition.

Dr Gupta has extensive experience in managing complex gastroenterological conditions and has performed more than 2,000 colonoscopies and 3,000 gastroscopies. His endoscopic expertise includes advanced therapeutic procedures such as complex endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), stricture dilatation and the placement of feeding tubes.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Gupta is also a member of the Trust Nutrition and Hydration Committee.
