Professor Adrian Banning

Professor Adrian Banning is a highly respected consultant interventional and general cardiologist based in Oxford, practising at Nuffield Health Oxford, The Manor Hospital. His clinical expertise includes TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation), aortic stenosis, coronary angioplasty, and coronary stenting. As the senior interventional cardiologist in Oxford, he plays a leading role in the treatment of complex coronary and valvular heart disease, delivering both NHS and private care to patients across the region.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Professor Banning has held several key leadership roles, including President of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society and Divisional Director for Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital. He was also a founding member of the Oxford Private Heart and Lung Centre. A pioneer in minimally invasive procedures, he has been instrumental in expanding the use of coronary stents and TAVI as alternatives to open-heart surgery. Each year, he performs more than 250 coronary stent procedures and over 200 TAVI implants, helping to improve outcomes for patients with high-risk or inoperable conditions.

Alongside his clinical work, Professor Banning is an internationally recognised researcher and educator. He has published over 450 peer-reviewed papers and regularly speaks at global cardiology conferences, including TCT and PCR. He leads the highly regarded ‘Oxford Live’ coronary courses and has delivered live case demonstrations to audiences of thousands worldwide.
