Dr Ajoy Bardhan is a consultant dermatologist based in Birmingham and Solihull. He consults privately in Edgbaston at The Harborne Hospital, The Priory Hospital and Midland Health. He offers expertise in the management of acne, skin cancer , inflammatory skin disease, as well as mole assessment and removal. He has a subspecialty interest in rare genetic skin disease, particularly epidermolysis bullosa.
Dr Bardhan graduated from Imperial College London and undertook general physician training in Cambridge at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, before moving to the West Midlands. His first post was at Solihull Hospital, where he returned to undertake a fellowship in the Highly Specialised Epidermolysis Bullosa service hosted by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, where he was subsequently appointed consultant.
Dr Bardhan holds several professional positions in addition to his clinical work. He contributes to basic scientific and clinical research into skin disease at the University of Birmingham, where he is also lead for undergraduate dermatology education. He is a member of the regional training committee for doctors specialising in dermatology, as well as contributing to the formulation of the national dermatology specialty examination. His subspecialty interest has led to invitations to lecture and present to undergraduate and postgraduate audiences around the world. He is current secretary for the Midland Dermatology Society, a member of the national steering committee for genetic skin disease, and has been elected to the executive committee of the national British Association of Dermatologists.
