Mr Alastair Brookes is a consultant general and colorectal surgeon with over 15 years of experience based in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
He is highly trained and experienced in several surgical procedures, such as gastrointestinal procedures, laparoscopic surgery and minimal access surgery (keyhole surgery). Among the many conditions he treats are hernias, pelvic floor dysfunction, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), faecal incontinence and rectal prolapse.
Mr Brookes underwent surgical training in all aspects of colorectal and general surgery in the West Midlands and Lincolnshire. During this period, he took time out to undertake a clinical research post at the University of Leicester. After completing his surgical training, he underwent a post-CCT fellowship in pelvic floor dysfunction.
He has maintained a keen interest in medical research. This research includes investigations into abdominal wall closure, incisional hernia formation, rectal prolapse and pelvic floor dysfunction, and has lead to numerous pieces of his work being published in peer-reviewed journals. Not only does he commit to research and providing first-class patient care, but also to teaching and supervising medical students and surgical trainees.
