Mr Alastair Kiszely

Mr Alastair Kiszely is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hand, wrist and elbow surgery in Bristol, who specialises in carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger and Dupuytren’s disease, alongside arthritis of the wrist, hand and fingers, sports injuries, joint pain and stiffness, fractures and thumb joint arthritis, including thumb joint replacement surgery. He privately practises at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital and Spire Bristol Hospital, while his NHS base is University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Kiszely studied medicine at the Universities of St Andrews and Manchester, graduating with an MBChB from the University of Manchester in 2011. He went on to complete surgical training across several major centres, including Oxford, London, Stanmore and the Severn Deanery, gaining broad experience in orthopaedic surgery. He subsequently undertook a prestigious TIG Hand Fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge in 2022, where he received advanced specialist training in both orthopaedic and plastic hand surgery.

He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2015 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Trauma and Orthopaedics (FRCSEd Tr & Orth) in 2021. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Bristol.

In his clinical practice, Mr Kiszely focuses on the diagnosis and management of disorders affecting the hand, wrist and elbow, providing both surgical and non-surgical treatment options tailored to each patient. He works closely with specialist hand therapists and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure comprehensive care and optimal functional recovery for patients with both acute injuries and chronic conditions.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Kiszely is actively involved in education and training. At University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, he contributes to the teaching and supervision of fellows, medical students and trainee doctors. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, reflecting his commitment to maintaining high professional standards and advancing specialist practice in upper limb surgery.
