Professor Aldo Rinaldi

Professor Aldo Rinaldi is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist based in London, specialising in arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation and pacemakers, alongside syncope, heart failure and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). He practises at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Portland Place Outpatient Centre where he is the service Lead for Electrophysiology , while his NHS base is Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, where he also serves as clinical lead for the Electrophysiology Department.

Professor Rinaldi has a sub-specialty focus on interventional cardiology, cardiac pacing including leadless pacemakers, ablation, defibrillators, ventricular tachycardia, lead extraction, and cardiac ablation. His expertise includes innovative treatments such as laser surgery and advanced cardiac device therapies, particularly in cardiac resynchronisation therapy for heart failure.

He completed his medical degree at King's College Hospital in 1990, followed by postgraduate training in cardiology at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals, achieving dual accreditation in cardiology and general medicine. Furthering his expertise, he earned an MSc in Cardiovascular Healthcare Economics from the London School of Economics and an MD in cardiology. He is a fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS), with professional memberships including the British Cardiac Society and the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA).

Professor Rinaldi has held several prominent teaching and leadership roles throughout his career, including his appointment as Professor of Electrophysiology and Devices at King's College London in 2014. He is involved in academic teaching at the Division of Imaging Sciences and Biomedical Engineering at King's College. He has made significant contributions to research and education, having authored over 700 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He has supervised numerous fellows to achieve their MD and PhDs.

In recognition of his clinical and academic contributions, Professor Rinaldi was recently awarded to the post Clinical Professor of Medicine Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.

He remains dedicated to advancing the field of electrophysiology and improving outcomes for patients with complex cardiac conditions.
