Mr Babar Kayani

Mr Babar Kayani is a renowned consultant orthopaedic surgeon based at RNOH Stanmore, with expertise in complex primary hip and knee replacements, revision (redo) surgery for failed joint replacements, robotic-assisted procedures, and the treatment of periprosthetic joint infections. His solid academic foundation enhances his evidence-based, patient-focused approach to care. Mr Kayani is part of the multidisciplinary team within the Joint Reconstruction Unit, which handles national referrals for a comprehensive range of hip and knee conditions.

With a strong research background, Mr Kayani completed a PhD at University College London investigating the impact of robotic technology on perioperative outcomes in total knee arthroplasty. He has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed articles and delivered over 250 national and international presentations on hip and knee pathology. He served as the principal investigator for five randomised controlled trials at University College London and has supervised research students from both Imperial College London and University College London.

His research has earned recognition from several prestigious organisations, including the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS England), British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), Orthopaedic Research UK (ORUK), Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie/Current Concepts in Joint Replacements (SICOT/CCJR), the European Federation of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT), Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS), American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), and the International Society of Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA).

Mr Kayani is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the British Orthopaedic Association. He also serves as a board member of the Bone and Joint Journal.
