Dr Behzad Boroumand Basit

Dr Behzad Basit is a highly esteemed and experienced NHS consultant psychiatrist who currently privately practices at Nightingale Hospital in London. Dr Basit specialises in diagnosing, treating and managing functional mental disorders including anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, as well as bipolar affective disorder, dementia, cognitive impairment and psychosis. The London-based psychiatrist possesses a particular interest in the relationship between physical and mental health conditions, and has also, to-date, obtained a substantial amount of experience in the area of adult ADHD.

Impressively, Dr Basit began his medical career with an astonishing achievement, as he was granted a medicine scholarship at the mere age of 17 in 1988. He then went on to achieve an MD from the most established medical centre in Iran, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Upon moving to the United Kingdom after initially commencing his medical professional career as a general practicioner in Iran, Dr Basit decided to undertake specialist training in psychiatry, which was followed by a successful completion of a higher training program in old age psychiatry and general adult psychiatry, which was accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr Basit is also fully trained in cognitive analytic therapy and also holds postgraduate diplomas in mental health studies as well as healthcare management. He has been continuously engaging in various different research and quality improvement-related projects, such as the production of a care pathway specifically designed for memory service and quality accreditation for inpatient wards offered by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Dr Basit is also regularly offers teachings and is an honorary visiting associate at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College London as well as Imperial College London.
