Mr Bivas Biswas

Mr Bivas Biswas is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in Nottingham, Derby and Mansfield, with specialist expertise in pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, menstrual disorders, hysteroscopy, vaginal and abdominal hysterectomy, overactive bladder and laparoscopy. He privately practises at The Park Hospital, Woodthorpe Hospital, Derby Private Health and Nottingham Road Clinic, while his NHS base is University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Biswas provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for women with general gynaecological and urogynaecological conditions with a particular focus on pelvic floor dysfunction. His NHS work involves working at a tertiary referral centre that has been accredited for urogynaecology by the British Society of Urogynaecology, reflecting the specialist nature of his clinical practice.

Mr Biswas completed his undergraduate and postgraduate medical training at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, a major tertiary referral centre in India, where he later worked as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist. After relocating to the UK in 2009, he completed his training and has worked as an NHS consultant since 2015. He has more than 21 years of broad-based experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, with a sustained focus on the management of pelvic floor disorders and urinary incontinence.

His clinical practice includes the full range of investigations and treatments for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence, including pelvic floor repair surgery, cystoscopy and urethroscopy, urethral bulking procedures, intravesical botulinum toxin injections, full urodynamic assessment, and abdominal, vaginal and laparoscopic hysterectomy. He also undertakes diagnostic and operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy as part of general gynaecological care.

Mr Biswas is actively involved in education and training. He is an examiner for the final MRCOG examinations at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a panel member for the national selection of obstetrics and gynaecology trainees for Health Education England. He has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts and contributes to the national database of the British Society of Urogynaecology. He is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the British Society of Urogynaecology.
