Dr Bryan McDonald

Dr Bryan McDonald is a consultant dermatologist in London who specialises in male genital dermatology, acne and skin cancer surgery, alongside eczema, hidradenitis, paediatric dermatology, psoriasis, and skin cancer diagnosis. He privately practises at Welbeck Skin Health & Allergy, while his NHS bases are Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust and Watford General Hospital part of West Hertfordshire Treaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr McDonald has particular interest in further inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea and hidradenitis suppurativa, and is highly experienced in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of skin cancer. He also specialises in male genital dermatology, leading services at both the Royal London Hospital and Watford General hospital, as well as leading the paediatric dermatology service at the Royal London Hospital.

Dr McDonald performs a full range of dermatological procedures, including skin cancer excisions, cryotherapy, curettage and cautery, mole and skin tag removal, and steroid injections for conditions such as hair loss or keloid scars. He is also involved in mole checks and skin cancer surveillance. His clinical approach is informed by extensive training and qualifications across dermatology and, previously, general practice, and he is known for his patient-centred care and attention to detail.

He studied medicine at Queen’s University Belfast, graduating in 2000. After initially training and practising as a GP, he completed a postgraduate diploma in dermatology and returned to hospital medicine to undertake specialist dermatology training in London, including on the Royal Free rotation. He holds multiple postgraduate qualifications including the MRCP(UK) in dermatology, FRCP, as well as diplomas in dermatology and occupational medicine..

Dr McDonald is a committee member of the British Association of Dermatologists’ Therapeutics and Guidelines Committee and is active in shaping national standards of care. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the British Society of Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatologists, the British Society of Dermatological Surgeons, and the European Association of Dermatovenereologists. His clinical excellence has been recognised with awards such as the Dr Henry Hutchinson-Stewart Medical Scholarship.
