Mr Charles Baker

Mr Charles Baker is a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician in Bournemouth and Poole with expertise in fibroids, endometriosis, heavy periods, menopause, period pain, infertility, vulvodynia (vulvar pain) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). He sees patients privately at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital and The Harbour Hospital, while his NHS base is University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, offering a wide range of gynaecological and obstetric care tailored to the individual needs of each woman.

He studied medicine at the University of London, graduating in 2006, and went on to complete specialist postgraduate training across several major centres in the south of England, including Southampton, Poole, Salisbury and Portsmouth. He gained Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2012 and has subspecialist experience in managing both high-risk pregnancies and gynaecological cancers.

Mr Baker provides comprehensive care for common and complex gynaecological problems and is skilled in keyhole and vaginal surgery. However, he takes a measured and conservative approach to treatment, aiming to reach shared decisions with patients rather than automatically opting for surgery. He is known for being approachable, building rapport with his patients and guiding them through treatment options with empathy and clarity.

He is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy and the British Menopause Society, reflecting his ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and best practice in women’s health.
