Mr Chethan Jayadev

Mr Chethan Jayadev is an esteemed consultant knee surgeon with expertise spanning the full spectrum of knee surgery. His clinical practice includes the management of sports-related injuries, knee preservation techniques, and complex joint replacements.

Renowned for his meticulous approach and personalised patient care, Chethan is committed to delivering the highest standard of evidence-based, modern treatment tailored to individual needs. He studied medicine at Oxford University (Magdalen College) and completed his higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics through the Royal London Hospital Programme. He later returned to Oxford to undertake a DPhil (PhD), focusing on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning knee osteoarthritis.

Mr Jayadev has undertaken three specialist fellowships in knee surgery. He completed a year-long fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction and Sports Knee Surgery at Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland, Australia. Upon returning to the UK, he pursued further subspecialist training in knee reconstruction, preservation, and sports injuries at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

He remains actively involved in academic research, with interests in knee osteoarthritis, cartilage regeneration, kinematic alignment in knee arthroplasty, and surgical innovation. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, contributed to book chapters, and regularly presents at national and international conferences.

Mr Jayadev is passionate about surgical education and plays an active role in training orthopaedic trainees at Stanmore. He frequently teaches on a range of courses covering topics from basic science to advanced knee reconstruction and sports surgery. He is a member of several professional societies, including the British Association of Knee Surgeons (BASK), the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
