Dr Christina Leitner is a highly skilled consultant dermatologist based in Worcester and Birmingham who specialises in eczema, psoriasis, acne and other inflammatory dermatoses, pruritus (itchy skin), moles, other skin lesions and skin cancer diagnosis. She practises privately at Spire South Bank Hospital, Sutton Medical Consulting Centre and The Harborne Hospital. Dr Leitner also offers ad hoc weekend appointments on specified dates.
With a wealth of experience in dermatology spanning over more than a decade, Dr Leitner worked in dermatology across the country including the Manchester area, Cambridge and the West Midlands from 2011. In those places, she worked in training posts prior to her first temporary consultant dermatologist position in NHS hospitals in Cardiff, Wales, in 2017, and then in the West Midlands and Worcester from 2018 to 2023.
Dr Leitner's passion for dermatological surgery and skin cancer led her to pursue a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery, where she gained specialised skills in Mohs micrographic surgery, complex skin surgery and skin cancer diagnosis and management. She has also served as the skin cancer multidisciplinary team lead at Worcestershire NHS Hospitals Trust.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Leitner is committed to advancing her knowledge in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. She completed a Masters in Skin Ageing and Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Manchester.
Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to supporting the training of junior health professionals and has contributed to research studies and scientific conferences. Dr Leitner published articles in several international journals and presented at national and international conferences.
She is a member of the British Society of Dermatological Surgery, a subgroup of British Association of Dermatologists, and British Medical Association.

- thought I would have had more skin tests done to be fair for my itching as it was such a high price at £260.00, but was hardly even checked, now i'm just back to square one again unfortunately, have been issued creams for these tend to generally not work.Doctor's response -Dear patient, thank you very much for your feedback. Unfortunately there is not much testing for itch. I 'm always glad if patients attend with baseline blood tests (complete itch screens) as this saves lots of money. Alternatively, we will always find a way to reduce costs by asking for assistance of your GP. Taking test results with you to avoid repeats, is the right thing to do. Itch requires a holistic approach which is not based on investigations but control of symptoms once blood tests are within normal limits and nothing is found on the skin. New products and new oral medication was recommended as you mentioned and help of an expert with knowledge in distraction techniques is usually offered. I appreciate that it can be disheartening if you haven't found relief yet with anything you were given but it is equally important to be open minded to anything new you are given and consider this as new stepping stone instead of the square one. A positive outlook and willingness to explore alternatives is very important and I hope this will take you a step further to resolution of the itch.
