Miss Eleni Vrizidou

Miss Eleni Vrizidou is a highly skilled and dedicated consultant ophthalmologist based in London, practising at the London Lauriston Clinic and Queen’s Hospital PPU. She specialises in medical retina, uveitis (both anterior and posterior), and general ophthalmology.

Her clinical approach is thorough and patient-centred, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality specialist and general ophthalmic care.

Miss Vrizidou has particular expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal vein occlusion, and other complex medical retinal conditions. She also manages a wide range of general ophthalmic disorders, including dry eye disease, blepharitis, chalazion, and cataracts, and performs YAG laser capsulotomy and minor eyelid surgery.

She graduated in Medicine from the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in 2001. Following her move to the UK, she undertook extensive ophthalmology training within the NHS, including specialist fellowships in medical retina and cataract surgery at King’s College Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. She was appointed as a Locum Consultant at King’s College Hospital in 2016 before becoming a substantive Consultant in Medical Retina and Cataract Surgery at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2018.

Alongside her clinical practice, Miss Vrizidou is actively involved in research and academic work, with publications in peer-reviewed journals. Her research has focused on inflammatory retinal diseases, including posterior scleritis, uveitis associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors, and clinical outcomes in age-related macular degeneration, reflecting her specialist interest in complex medical retina and uveitis.

Miss Vrizidou is also committed to postgraduate medical education. She serves as College Tutor at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, where she leads the organisation and delivery of ophthalmology training for resident doctors, supporting the development of the next generation of ophthalmologists.

Her combination of specialist expertise, academic involvement, and compassionate, evidence-based approach enables her to provide high-quality ophthalmic care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
