Mr Emanuele Garreffa

Mr Emanuele Garreffa is a renowned consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. He also serves as programme director of the BRESO international fellowship programme, which attracts surgeons from around the world to the UK for advanced training in breast surgical oncology and oncoplastic breast surgery under his supervision.

Mr Garreffa completed his specialist training in breast surgery in Italy, followed by two further fellowships in Derby and Cambridge. During this time, he developed extensive expertise in advanced oncoplastic breast-conserving procedures as well as complex reconstructive techniques. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and of the European Board of Surgery. In 2021, he was awarded the European Certification in Breast Surgical Oncology, becoming one of the few BRESO-certified surgeons practicing in the UK.

Mr Garreffa has authored and co-authored numerous research publications in the field of oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, contributing to the advancement of surgical techniques and patient outcomes.

He manages the full spectrum of breast conditions, including benign disease, breast cancer, and the care of patients with a family history of breast cancer.

His practice incorporates the latest oncoplastic approaches, such as therapeutic mammoplasty, partial breast reconstruction using chest wall perforator flaps, and full breast reconstruction with implants, latissimus dorsi muscle flaps, or chest wall perforator flaps. He also routinely uses lipofilling techniques to optimise reconstructive and aesthetic results.

Mr Garreffa offers breast augmentation, mastopexy, and breast reduction, but only in the context of asymmetry post–breast cancer surgery.
