Professional statement

Dr Emma Salisbury is a leading consultant nephrologist based in central London. She specialises in kidney transplantation, haemodialysis and acute kidney injury alongside chronic kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and polycystic kidney disease (PKD).

Dr Salisbury was appointed consultant nephrologist at Imperial College Renal & Transplant Centre, Hammersmith Hospital, London in 2016 where she has weekly general nephrology, acute haemodialysis and kidney transplant clinics. She is also part of the on-call rota for inpatient care and acute kidney transplantation. Her particular passion is Young Adult Care for which she is Clinical Lead. This requires her to work closely with paediatric colleagues at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Evelina Children's Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.

Dr Salisbury is experienced in all aspects of kidney disease, renal replacement therapy, transplantation, and both acute and chronic kidney injury. She is delighted to offer regular clinics to private patients at the Cromwell Hospital in Central London.

Dr Salisbury qualified in medicine (MBChB) with Honours from the University of Edinburgh in 2004. Following one year at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, she moved to London and started work at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She never left! She achieved membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007 and was awarded a PhD by Imperial College London in 2013 following 3 years of research in transplant immunology.

In 2016 she was awarded her Specialty Certificate in Nephrology by the Royal College of Physicians. In 2023, she was appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). Following her PhD, Dr Salisbury left the field of research to focus on clinical practice and patient-facing care.

However, she continues to contribute to clinical trials and has 13 published papers in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of numerous professional organisations including the British Medical Association, the UK Kidney Association, and the American Society of Nephrology.

  • I would highly recommend doctor Salisbury, she is thorough and very knowledgeable in her field and also I received a full report that night. Top Doctors video link would not work after several tries, had to resort to an old fashioned phone consultation so cannot recommend that.
