Dr Hal Brindley

Dr Hal Brindley is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist in central London who specialises in abnormal liver tests, fatty liver disease, colonoscopy, alongside liver fibrosis (scarring), abdominal pain, viral hepatitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and endoscopy. He privately practises at HCA UK at The Shard, London Bridge Hospital, and Canary Wharf Outpatients, while his NHS base is Barts Health NHS Trust.

He has a particular interest in liver disease, especially obesity-related fatty liver and liver scarring, and his clinical practice includes the diagnosis and management of conditions such as autoimmune liver disease, gallbladder and liver polyps, cirrhosis and biliary disorders. He regularly performs advanced diagnostic tests such as FibroScan, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy and gastroscopy to assess and treat gastrointestinal conditions including colon polyps, indigestion, coeliac disease and suspected inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr Brindley graduated in medicine (MBBS) from the University of London and went on to complete specialist training in gastroenterology and hepatology in London teaching hospitals. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and holds MRCP(Gastro). He completed a PhD focused on the immunology of fatty liver disease, reflecting his commitment to advancing research in hepatology.

In addition to his clinical work, he is clinical lead at the Royal London and Newham General Hospitals. He serves as an honorary senior clinical lecturer and principal investigator at the Barts Liver Centre, Queen Mary University of London, where he contributes to research and teaches the next generation of specialists.
