Professor Haris Bilal is a highly accomplished consultant cardiac and aortovascular surgeon based in Cheadle, where he practices privately at The Alexandra Hospital (Circle Health Group). He also holds a consultant post at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. His principal areas of expertise include off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic valve replacement and complex aortic surgery, with a particular focus on delivering advanced care for high-risk and technically demanding cardiac conditions.
Professor Bilal is widely recognised for his pioneering work in off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery in the region, performing bypass surgery on a beating heart without the use of a heart-lung machine to reduce perioperative complications and improve recovery. He has performed over 3,500 cardiac surgical procedures throughout his career and has extensive experience in both routine and complex re-operative cases. His specialist practice also includes aortic valve replacement and complex aortic reconstruction, including aortic root and ascending aorta surgery for aneurysm and dissection, often managing patients requiring combined procedures.
Alongside his clinical practice, Professor Bilal contributes to the academic and professional development of cardiothoracic surgery as an Honorary Visiting Professor at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has trained at leading UK cardiac centres and holds major professional affiliations including the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. His approach is defined by surgical precision, patient safety and consistently high standards of outcomes in complex cardiac surgery.
