Mr Harish Chandran is a renowned consultant paediatric urology surgeon based in Birmingham, practising at Spire Parkway Hospital. With over three decades of experience, he specialises in laparoscopic surgery and complex paediatric urology, including laparoscopic pyeloplasty, nephrectomy, hemi-nephrectomy, hypospadias repair, hernia surgery, and the treatment of undescended testes and hydroceles. He is particularly recognised for his expertise in genito-urinary tract reconstructive surgery and his commitment to delivering outstanding care to children.
He has been a consultant paediatric surgeon and urologist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital for over 24 years, where he has played a central role in advancing minimally invasive techniques. Mr Chandran was instrumental in establishing and developing the hospital’s laparoscopic surgery service and currently serves as Clinical Lead for laparoscopic surgery. His work has earned him recognition as an expert in laparoscopic paediatric surgery both in the UK and internationally.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Chandran is actively involved in teaching, training, and mentoring surgeons at various stages of their careers. He completed his surgical training in New Zealand and Australia, obtaining fellowships in both general and paediatric surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is also a member of several leading professional organisations, including the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons and the European Society for Paediatric Urology.
