He practises at a number of prominent clinics around the capital such as the London Sports Orthopaedics. He is the Divisional Director for Surgery and Cancer Services at his NHS base, North Middlesex University Hospital, a partner to the Royal Free Hospital.
Henry qualified in Medicine from the University of Edinburgh in July 1998, and completed basic surgical training in Edinburgh on the South-East of Scotland BST rotation; attaining the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS) in 2001. He became Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2006, and completed his Specialist Registrar training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the Imperial College North West Thames rotation in July 2008.

Apart from lecturing at the medical faculty, senior staff regularly asked him for guidance and assistance in promoting quality research.
He is proud that even at a distance, and in subjects not directly related to his speciality, that he has been able to share these ideals and important developments with the wider medical community.
Henry is committed to excellence in patient care and believes that research, development and audit are important components to the promotion of high-quality healthcare in the UK.
Henry was awarded an NHS Clinical Excellence Award in both 2012 and 2018 for the work he has done at North Middlesex Hospital. Clinical Excellence Awards are given to recognise and reward the exceptional contribution of NHS consultants, over and above that normally expected in a job, to the values and goals of the NHS and to patient care.
He was listed in the Tatler Best Doctors Guide 2013, as one of Britain’s top 250 Doctors. He has achieved the “I Want Great Care” Certificate of Excellence in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

- I recently had a knee consultancy with Mr Atkinson and was very pleased with the time I spent with him. Talkative and full of information he had a likeable and candid nature which isn’t always the case with surgeons. The environment, physio and staff were professional and polite.
- Everything was satisfactory. No concerns noted. Follow up as needed. Thank you for your care and support.
- Very useful consultation. Mr. Atkinson made me feel very comfortable and gave me more helpful advice than I had hoped for. He took plenty of time to discuss my symptoms connected with knee arthritis and I left feeling much more positive about my situation.
