Mr Humza Malik

Mr Humza Malik is a consultant upper GI and general surgeon in central London with expertise in hernia, incisional hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction, alongside abdominal wall Botox®, gallstones, keyhole surgery, lumps and bumps, and acid reflux. He privately practises at Nuffield Health at St Bartholomew's Hospital and his NHS base is Homerton University Hospital, Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Malik, who provides tailored surgical solutions with a focus on patient safety, effective results and enhanced recovery, is highly qualified. He has an MBBS and a PhD, both in Medicine from Imperial College London, and an FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Malik is director of research and innovation at Homerton University Hospital and co-director of the North East London Commercial Research Disease Centre. His academic background includes a PhD in medicine from Imperial College London, where his research focused on identifying and reducing low-value surgical interventions. His findings, published in the British Journal of Surgery, have influenced both national and international health policy.

Mr Malik has contributed to major industry collaborations, including projects with Sanofi through LSE Consulting, and has presented his work to organisations such as NHS England, NICE and the Dubai Health Authority. He is also a senior visiting fellow at the London School of Economics, where he continues to shape global health policy through teaching and research.

He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and a member of the British Hernia Society and the European Hernia Society. His combination of surgical expertise, academic achievement and health policy research reflects a career dedicated to improving both individual patient outcomes and wider healthcare systems.
