Mr Ian Kennedy is a highly respected consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Glasgow, practising at Nuffield Health Glasgow and Ross Hall Hospital - Part of Circle Health Group. He specialises in hip and knee replacement surgery, including complex revision procedures, and robotic-assisted joint replacement. His clinical practice focuses on both primary and complex arthroplasty, ensuring patients receive tailored, evidence-based care to restore mobility and improve quality of life.
Beyond his clinical work, Mr Kennedy is deeply involved in research and education. He holds an MD in stem cell engineering from the University of Glasgow and has authored around 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. As an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow and Specialty Editor for the Bone & Joint Journal, he contributes to advancing orthopaedic knowledge and evidence-based practice. His research includes pioneering approaches in stem cell therapies and joint reconstruction, underlining his commitment to innovation in patient care.
Mr Kennedy combines his specialist expertise with extensive international training, including the Vancouver Hip & Knee Reconstruction Fellowship and the Endo-Klinik Travelling Fellowship in Hamburg. He is Educational Chair of the Bone and Joint Infection Society and has received awards from the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Hip Society and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Known for his clear communication and patient-centred approach, he focuses on understanding each patient’s goals, helping them regain confidence and return to the activities they enjoy.
