Dr Al-Shakarchi completed her medical degree at the University of Wales College of Medicine in 2004 and holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiology from University College London. She was awarded a Master's degree in Rheumatology with distinction from King’s College London in 2010, where she received the prize for best research project. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.


She undertook her specialist training in leading London teaching hospitals, including King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’, and St George’s. In 2014, she was appointed as a substantive NHS Consultant Rheumatologist at Kingston Hospital. In addition to her clinical work, she has held several senior roles in medical education, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2018.
