Mr Javaid Ahmad Muglu

Mr Javaid Ahmad Muglu is a highly respected consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist practising at The Blackheath Hospital in London. He specialises in gynaecological cancer, advanced laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic hysterectomy, and endometriosis. He also provides care at London Gynaecology, London International Patient Services (LIPS), and LIPS Healthcare Battersea. Mr Muglu delivers expert management of complex gynaecological conditions, with a strong focus on early cancer detection and minimally invasive techniques.

He is the lead consultant in gynaecological oncology and advanced laparoscopic surgery at University Hospital Lewisham, where he has introduced ‘One Stop’ clinics offering same-day scans and biopsies to streamline diagnosis and treatment. Mr Muglu completed his medical education in Kashmir before moving to the UK for specialist training. He undertook advanced training in gynaecological oncology at Barts Cancer Centre and the Royal London Hospital, and is an RCOG-accredited specialist in both gynaecological oncology and general gynaecology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a member of the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS). His work includes both laparoscopic and open surgery, as well as care for peri- and post-menopausal women.

Beyond his clinical practice, Mr Muglu is actively involved in improving gynaecological services across the region. He previously served as Clinical Director for Gynaecological Services at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and currently chairs both the South East London Cancer Alliance (SELCA) and the non-admitted gynaecology stream for the Acute Provider Collaborative in South East London (SEL APC). He also sits on the Council of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Passionate about research and education, Mr Muglu frequently presents at international conferences, has published widely in the field, and is a dedicated mentor and trainer for fellow consultants and junior doctors.
