Mr Lee Bayliss

Mr Lee Bayliss is a distinguished consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist focus on bone and soft tissue sarcomas. He is a core member of the London Sarcoma Service and practices at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in London. His clinical expertise spans the management of both adult and paediatric patients, particularly in complex tumour surgery and musculoskeletal oncology.

Mr Lee Bayliss is highly skilled in treating malignant conditions such as bone and soft tissue sarcomas, metastatic bone disease, and pathological fractures, as well as benign lesions including osteochondromas, lipomas, and nerve sheath tumours. His practice incorporates advanced surgical technologies, including computer-assisted procedures, 3D-printed implants, and robotic-assisted techniques, to tailor highly specialised treatments for his patients.

Mr Lee Bayliss pursued his medical education at Imperial College London, followed by surgical training in London and higher orthopaedic training on the prestigious Oxford rotation. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) from the University of Oxford, focusing on the optimisation of timing for joint replacement surgeries. He further refined his surgical expertise during a fellowship in orthopaedic oncology and complex limb reconstruction at RNOH.

His research interests include prosthetic design and fixation methods in limb salvage procedures and revision arthroplasty. He has contributed extensively to the academic community through publications, book chapters, and presentations at international orthopaedic and oncology forums.

In 2024, Mr Lee Bayliss was honoured with the "Surgeon of the Year" award by the Bone Cancer Research Trust at the Bone Idol Awards, a testament to his dedication to improving outcomes for patients with primary bone cancer. Beyond his surgical practice, he actively contributes to the advancement of orthopaedic oncology as a Board Member of the British Orthopaedic Oncology Society and a Trustee of the Skeletal Cancer Trust. These roles reflect his ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, innovation in musculoskeletal cancer treatment, and the wider support and development of orthopaedic oncology services in the UK.
