Mr Loaie Maraqa

Mr Loaie Maraqa is a highly skilled consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon based in Sheffield. With more than 20 years of experience, Mr Maraqa’s clinical practice is exclusively dedicated to breast surgery for benign and malignant breast conditions, such as breast lumps and breast cancer. Included in his expertise are lumpectomy, mastectomy, therapeutic mammoplasty (breast reduction to treat breast cancer), and breast reconstruction procedures alongside revision breast surgery, lipomodelling (fat transfer), and breast symmetrisation surgery.

Mr Maraqa originally qualified from the Jordan University of Science and Technology in 1999. Following his initial appointments, Mr Maraqa became a member of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2005 and was named a fellow only seven years later. Mr Maraqa took up his NHS post in 2015 at The Royal Hallamshire Hospital, where in addition to his regular consultant duties, he leads the hospital's breast multidisciplinary team meetings and is clinical lead for the breast services as well.

Further to his surgical practice, Mr Maraqa is actively involved in breast cancer research, statistics, and critical appraisal. He holds an MD from the University of Leeds for his investigation into the genes associated with tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer, and is a peer-reviewer for several scientific publications, including the British Medical Journal. Mr Maraqa is also an honorary senior clinical lecturer at the University of Sheffield.
