Dr Maite Ferrin

Dr Maite Ferrin is a highly experienced consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist and adult psychiatrist with specialist expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions affecting children, adolescents and young adults.

Practising at Re:Cognition Health London, she provides comprehensive, individualised care for patients with conditions including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders and emerging personality disorders.

She combines evidence-based pharmacological treatments with psychological interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and psychoeducation, ensuring patients and their families receive holistic, personalised support.

Dr Ferrin graduated in medicine from the University of Navarre, Spain, in 2001 before completing specialist training in General Psychiatry in Pamplona. She subsequently moved to the UK to undertake a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Imperial College London. Further advancing her expertise, she completed an MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London, before being awarded a European PhD in Neurosciences through the University of Granada and King's College London in 2010, graduating with the prestigious Cum Laude distinction.

Throughout her career, she has developed extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of ADHD, ASD and associated psychiatric conditions across all stages of childhood and adolescence. Dr Ferrin has over 20 years of clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of ADHD, ASC and other neurodevelopmental conditions, the last 10 years as consultant psychiatrst in the NHS.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Ferrin has built an outstanding academic and research career. She has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and book chapters in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry and is recognised internationally for her expertise in ADHD. She serves on the steering committee of the Continuum ADHD Project, a pan-European educational initiative led by experts in the field, and is one of the few UK members of both the European Network for Hyperkinetic Disorders (Eunethydis) and the European ADHD Guidelines Group (EAGG), organisations dedicated to advancing the clinical care and research of ADHD across Europe.

Committed to education as well as research, Dr Ferrin is a Clinical Lecturer at University College London and also holds the position of Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Brain and Behaviour Laboratory at the University of Southampton. Through her clinical, academic and research roles, she remains dedicated to improving the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders, helping young people and their families achieve the best possible long-term outcomes.
