Dr Mark Connaughton is a highly-experienced consultant cardiologist and can offer specialist assessment and advice regarding chest pain, arrhythmias, angioplasty, heart failure heart attacks and general cardiology.
Dr Connaughton practises privately at St Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight. He has been practising at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust since 2001 and was an interventional cardiologist at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust for 19 years until 2020.
He graduated from Oxford University in 1982 and completed his medical degree at the London Hospital Medical College in 1987. He obtained an MD by research at the Rayne Institute, St Thomas's Hospital London in 1996. He was elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2005.
Dr Connaughton specialises in assessing and treating patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels. He has expertise in imaging using simple or complex echocardiography, and is familiar with cardiac CT and MRI. In addition to his consultancy position, he has extensive post-graduate teaching experience and was Royal College Tutor for Medicine and Lead Educator at St Mary's Hospital, Isle of Wight between 2010 and 2020.
