Mr Muhammad Shiwani is a leading consultant general and laparoscopic surgeon based in Leeds and Barnsley. With over 25 years of experience, Mr Shiwani’s areas of expertise include gallbladder disease, endoscopy (including gastroscopy and coloscopy), hernia, acid reflux and gastro-oesophageal disease, rectal bleeding and lumps and bumps.
Mr Shiwani first qualified with his MBBS from the Dow Medical School in Karachi, Pakistan. He then continued his education in Europe, receiving qualifications at prestigious institutions in the UK, Ireland and France. - I went to Mr Shiwani at Spire hospital Methley with a hernia. The consultation was excellent and the options for repair were clearly explained. I chose laparoscopic surgery. The surgery was done and the results and particularly the recovery far exceeded my expectations. I was in very little pain and was mobile within 48 hours. The follow up consultation was informative and very professionally done. Mr Shiwani in my experience was first class.
- I had a inguinal Hernia operation on the 3rd of February 2026 , Dr Shiwani gave me too options ,1 key hole, 2 open surgery , he said the key hole is less pain in recovery , however I opted for the open surgery , which I had hardly any pain , it was sore for the first 2 weeks , the hospital gave me codene to manage the pain , which I did not take , only ibuprofen for the first 3 days, I have a very physical job , which I was tempted to have the key hole , open surgery was the best for me .
